DIALECTAL BEHAVIORAL THERAPY

Dialectical Behavior Therapy is the combined use of various evidence-based therapies. DBT therapies use cognitive behavioral skills training (CBT), teach mindfulness, impulse control, and self-care skills. This type of therapy is proven effective in helping people with personality disorders, mood disorders, addiction issues, and trauma.

DBT WORKS BEST BY:

  • Helping the client uncover and identify triggers for self-defeating behaviors
  • Focusing on acceptance and making a commitment to make things better
  • Requiring the patient to create behavior pattern changes and the development of a plan for a “life worth living”

``Just because no one else can heal or do your inner work for you, doesn't mean you can, should or need to do it alone.``

DISORDERED EATING &
BODY IMAGE THERAPY

Eating disorders are serious health conditions that can be both physically and emotionally destructive. People with eating disorders need to seek professional help. Early diagnosis and intervention may enhance recovery. Eating disorders can become chronic, debilitating, and even lifethreatening conditions.

WHAT DOES TREATMENT OF AN EATING DISORDER INVOLVE?

  • Psychotherapy or psychological counseling, coupled with careful attention to medical and nutritional needs.
  • Tailored, individualized care based on the severity of the disorder and the patient’s particular problems, needs, and strengths.
  • Recovery that lasts as the individual learns how to live peacefully and healthfully with food and with themselves.

``Your mental health is a priority.
Your happiness is essential.
Your self-care is a necessity.``

SUBSTANCE ABUSE & ADDICTION COUNSELING

Drug abuse is thought to be a maladaptive means of coping with life problems that often become habitual and lead to progressive deterioration. Addiction Counseling addresses the symptoms of drug addiction and related areas of impaired functioning and will structure an ongoing recovery program.

ADDICTION COUNSELING WORKS BEST WHEN COUPLED WITH:

  • Therapy to help the client recognize the problem and associated with irrational thinking
  • Abstinence
  • Teaching the necessary psychosocial skills and spiritual development to help continue lifelong recovery

``Healing takes time, and asking for help is a courageous step.``

EMDR/TRAUMA THERAPY

Eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR) is a form of psychotherapy in which the person being treated is asked to recall distressing images while generating one type of bilateral sensory input, such as side-to-side eye movements or hand tapping.  It is a form of therapy well-suited for the treatment of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD,) panic attacks, disturbing memories, anxiety, stress, addictions, phobias, abuse, personality disorders, and body dysmorphic disorders.

PSYCHOTHERAPY

Many individuals face mental health challenges throughout their life. Such struggles can include anxiety, depression, grief, addiction, and difficulty coping with life’s stresses and challenges.

It is important to know that you do not need to be experiencing symptoms of a psychological disorder to seek help from a mental health professional. These highly-trained professionals can help you with a wide range of concerns, from stress to relationships. Whether your goal is to gain insight into your own behaviors, become a better spouse or parent, or become more motivated to achieve your goals, consulting a mental health professional can help.

IF YOU EXPERIENCE ANY ONE OF THE FOLLOWING,
YOU MAY BENEFIT FROM MENTAL HEALTH COUNSELING:

✔ Repeated, uncontrollable thoughts or memories related to a recent traumatic experience

✔ Life seems intense and unmanageable

✔ Uninterested in things you used to enjoy and disconnected from the people around you

✔ Using substances to cope with your problems

✔ Your anxiety feels overwhelming

✔ Relationships feel strained and not what they used to be

EXPRESSIVE ART THERAPY

The purpose of Expressive Art Therapy is essentially one of healing and is commonly used to treat physical, mental, or emotional problems, diseases, and disorders. This type of therapy uses the art-making process as a therapeutic treatment. During this therapy, the therapist facilitates the creative process to explore feelings, reconcile emotional conflicts, foster self-awareness, manage behavior and addictions, develop social skills, improve reality orientation, reduce anxiety or increase self-esteem.

MINDFULNESS-BASED COGNITIVE THERAPY

Mindfulness is a practice that comes from a variety of contemplative traditions throughout history. It is a way of paying attention to our thoughts, feelings, body sensations and environment from moment to moment with curious, kind and non-judgmental attention. This way of being allows the body’s natural healing mechanisms to function fully, establishing better health, well-being, balance and calmness. Mindfulness is a skill and can be learned systematically, and people of any age, profession or background can incorporate it into their daily life.
